Juniors Event Grant

The GSPCA is pleased to offer an Event Grant to be applied towards reimbursement of expenses for items such as entry fees and expenses associated with traveling to selected events. Applicants must have been a member of the GSPCA for the previous year and the current year of competition.  All applicants are required to handle a German Shorthaired Pointer at the event the applicant is applying for and must have qualified for the event or earned points towards rankings while exhibiting a German Shorthaired Pointer.

A total of Five hundred dollars ($500) is available for GSPCA Junior members each year who attend either Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show or the AKC National Championships to handle a German Shorthaired Pointer in Junior Showmanship competition. This $500 grant will be divided as follows:

1.  Two hundred fifty dollars ($250) available to the highest placed GSPCA Junior member showing a GSP based on AKC standings from the previous year.

2.  One hundred fifty dollars ($150) available to the second highest placed GSPCA Junior member showing a GSP based on AKC standings from the previous year.

3.  One hundred dollars ($100) available to the third highest placed GSPCA Junior member showing a GSP based on AKC standing from the previous year.

A GSPCA Junior member must attend either the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show or the AKC National Championships to be eligible for the cash award. Requests from those applying need to be sent in writing by email to the GSPCA Corresponding Secretary a minimum thirty (30) days prior to the event. The email should include the name of applicant, name and date of the event, provide proof of entry and records showing qualifying wins.

If there is a tie, first and second and/or second and third, the award will be divided equally. If the Junior member highest in the AKC standings does not attend either event, the second highest Junior member in the AKC standings does not automatically receive the first-place award and the same applies to the third highest Junior member.

At the discretion of the of the Juniors Committee and with GSPCA BOD approval, other event grant funding opportunities can be considered for GSPCA Junior members.  Up to two (2) event grants per year are available to attend events such as other AKC National Championships for Agility, Obedience and Rally. The GSPCA Junior member must request in writing a minimum thirty (30) days prior to the event with the event information.  Event grants awarded will be based on the applicant’s participation and rankings in the AKC Junior Recognition Program while handling a German Shorthaired Pointer.
