JUNIOR HANDLING SEMINAR Thursday, May 5

A Junior Handling seminar will be presented by Lucretia Coonrod following Sweepstakes judging. Lucretia won the 2010 National Specialty Show. She has been involved with Juniors for years through her daughter. This is your chance to get valuable feedback and instruction regardless of your skill level!! EVERYONE age 8 to 18 is welcome!! And yes, bring your dog!! Participation is FREE, but it is requested that those who wish to participate pre-register in order to help plan the content of the seminar. PARADE OF JUNIOR HANDLERS Thursday, May 5

Entry deadline is April 13, 2011 to ensure your personalized rosette and inclusion in the program booklet. Personal paragraphs may be emailed to onapointhf@yahoo.com. Resembling Parade of Titleholders, this is a fun, non-competitive event meant to showcase our young GSP enthusiasts from ALL areas of the dog world, not just junior showmanship! Eligible ages are 8 to 19 years old. Each participant will receive a personalized ROSETTE to commemorate participation. Each participant should submit a short personal paragraph (75 words or less, typed) to be included in the program booklet, which will be read as each junior exhibits their dog. Some examples of things to include in the personal paragraph are funny facts or general information about the dog and/or junior, competition achievements, support roles you fill at shows (grooming, assisting, etc.), school, future plans, or anything else you’re proud of. Please specify how you want the participant’s name and the dog’s name to appear on the rosette.

GSPCA NSS JUNIOR MENTORING Friday May 6

Be a part of the GSPCA NSS Junior Mentoring Session! Your national juniors committee is committed to giving you the tools to make you the best possible steward of our breed, and that includes understanding handling and general GSP conformation and structure. We think one way we can help is to offer you one-on-one attention in one of the best places you’ll ever have to “master” your GSP know-how; your National Specialty!

Juniors will be paired with GSP people who understand junior showmanship demands AND who know GSPs. You’ll watch several classes together at ringside and discuss what you’re seeing in the ring. Participants must be between the ages of 9 and 18 and be interested in learning to show a GSP to the best of your ability!
