National Amateur Championship

Open to any amateur owned German Shorthaired Pointer six months of age or older, which before the close of entries for the current year has, within one year, at an AKC Licensed or Member Pointing Breed Club field trial, placed first in a three point stake; first in a four point stake; first or second in a five point stake. A field champion or amateur field champion of record is qualified. Placement may be in an amateur or open gun dog stake provided the dog is amateur handled. Placements in derby stakes will not qualify.

The owner and handler of each dog shall, in the opinion of the National Field Trial Executive Committee, meet the definition of an Amateur Handlers for Pointing Breed Field Trials that is contained in the AKC Field Trial Rules and Standard Procedures.

National Futurity
(to follow completion of National Amateur Championship)

National futurity open to all AKC registrable German Shorthaired Pointers from nominated litters providing forfeit has been paid. Dogs must have been whelped between October 1, 2007 and October 1, 2008.

National Open All Age Championship
(to follow completion of National Futurity)

Dogs must qualify over a one year period starting October 1, 2006 for the 2007 National Open All-Age Championship. Qualification for each succeeding National Open all-Age Championship must be earned in a similar one year period.

Open to any German Shorthaired Pointer six months of age or over that has placed first in a two point All-Age stake; first or second in a three point All-Age stake; first, second or third in a four or five point All-Age stake. A field champion or amateur field champion of record is qualified. Placements in a derby stake will not qualify.

An Amateur owned and handled dog can, if qualified enter the National Amateur Championship and can also be entered in either, but not both, the National Open-All Age Championship or the National Open Gun Dog Championship to be handled by himself or someone else.

National Open Gun Dog Championship
(to follow National Open All Age Championship)

Open to any German Shorthaired Pointer six months of age or older, which before the close of entries for the current year has, within one year, at an AKC Licensed or Member Pointing Breed Club field trial, placed first in a three point Open or Open Limited Gun Dog stake; first in a four point Open or Open Limited Gun Dog stake; first or second in a five point Open or Open Limited Gun Dog stake. A field champion or amateur field champion of record is qualified. Placements in derby stakes will not qualify.
