- Have tried obedience
My first GSP was a rescue in the early 70’s, that “always
ran away after the kids left for school” and went to hang out at
a gas station. Just a good Ol’ hunting dog.
Our second GSP was adopted from the Pomona, CA animal shelter,
where guess what ! “He went over the fence to follow the kids to
school”. “Tug” became an important addition
to our family with my loving wife Patti, our 3 boys and 1 girl. The
kids wore him out so much that he didn’t want to follow them to
school, and stayed home with Patti to recoup his energy while the kids
were away. He was another Ol’ hunting dog, true to the temperament
for our breed. I began attending NSTRA trials, as I enjoy
running and gunning.
We purchased our first GSP puppy in 1985 through John
Merrill a breeder and field trialer in Bakersfield, Ca. John had imported Lystlunds
Tass from Denmark. We acquired our second GSP puppy not
much longer after that from a Moesgaard bloodline breeding in Pasadena.
A few years later, after moving back to Oregon we purchased a solid
liver male from John Merrill, from his Lystlunds Tass and Golden West
bloodlines breeding.
The next addition was from Von Hainholz Ranch Kennels
in Southern, California in 1987. We have carried these foundation lines forward in our
breeding program.
We established our vision of what we feel a GSP should be. We
wanted temperament, hunting ability, intelligence, good health as well
as being family oriented. A dog that wants to please you.
We continue today successfully raising family gun dogs
that are true to our vision.
We don’t have the very best in show or the very best in the Field,
but overall have done well in all the events that we do participate in
with titled dogs in almost all areas I listed above, and stayed true
to our breeding program.
My Mission Statement:
As a steward of our Breed I feel it is important that we learn from
the past, uphold the present and look forward to the future, always mindful
of what we can do to improve our breed and the club. If selected
to be your NW Director I will be accessible to those I represent. I will
respectfully listen to your opinion. I will gather and share the
ideas from people within local organizations, to pass on to the Board
of Directors. I will be your eyes, ears and voice for the Northwest Region.
