Candidate for East Central Director

My bio has changed very little since the last election with the exception of two things.  I was greatly honored to judge our class dogs and fantastic juniors at the 2010 GSPCA Nationals and I now have the experience of sitting on the board of Directors of the GSPCA.  This has been a rewarding and valuable experience, however I believe there is still much to be done to move our great club forward.  I would be honored to be entrusted to continue to represent the East Central on the GSPCA Board of Directors.

My love of hunting dogs began at a very early age; as a young girl I hunted with my father behind his dogs and read gun dog magazines in his lap.  After years of hunting behind his setters, I came across Patti Keller at a local dog show with her beautiful German Shorthaired Pointers.  The idea of having such a beautiful dog that could hunt in the morning and show that same afternoon was more than a dream come true for me.  It was love at first sight.

I began showing and hunting with GSPs in the mid 80’s, studied dogs and pedigrees and bred my first litter under the Artemis prefix in 1990.   I have bred one, owner handled AKC Best In Show dog and what I feel is a reasonable number of specialty winners but the dog I remember with the most pride is BISS CH Artemis Old Time Huntabird MH, who at one time was the youngest GSP to obtain a Master Hunter Title.  “O. T.” was the first dog I trained and ran in hunt tests myself and my favorite dog to guide and hunt over.

 An active member of the Logansport Kennel Club, I am currently the Show Chair and have held that position for the past eight years. My responsibilities include managing two all breed events in mid March each year.  I became a hunt test judge in the early 90’s and am a AKC  conformation judge currently approved for GSP’s, Brittanys, Weimaraners, Basenji and Jr. Showmanship.

My husband Doug and I have been married for twenty nine years.  We raised one daughter, Christin, and now are enjoying our first grandchild. Doug and I have been active members in the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Indiana for many years. We have always worked for the GSPCI in any capacity requested.  I have held positions from sitting on the Board of Directors for a few years and serving as Show Chair for several years. I have also spent time as a bird planter, bird cleaner and chief pooper scooper.
