I have been active in the sport of dogs since 1970. The first purebred dog I had was a Golden Retriever. She was strictly a hunting dog for my husband. He decided that he needed a dog for upland bird hunting and a German Shorthaired Pointer joined the family. The breed has been with us ever since. My husband and I became members of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Wisconsin. The club was looking for a show chairman/show secretary for the specialty show. I volunteered to be the show secretary and held the position for about twenty years. We joined the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America in 1973 and have been members ever since. Very early on, I became hooked on conformation. Handling classes, seminars and some helpful pro handlers got me started and I never quit. I've owned, bred and exhibited German Shorthairs and German Wirehairs for myself and for friends. I finished many of those dogs and had success specialing a few. I've also had the privilege of showing Cocker Spaniels, Weimaraners and Vizslas for friends. Being involved in the sport has given me an excuse to travel around the country to shows and the opportunity to see many of the great German Shorthairs and German Wirehairs. In addition to exhibiting, I was Show Secretary for several clubs. I have had the opportunity to act as Show Secretary for four GSPCA National Specialties and two GWPCA National Specialties. I've worked at field trials and hunt tests and appreciate the beauty of a dog working in the field. I retired after twenty years in banking in 2000 and moved from Wisconsin to Arizona. In 2003 I applied to the American Kennel Club to judge German Shorthaired Pointers and German Wirehaired Pointers. I am currently approved to judge eight breeds in the Sporting group. I volunteered to be secretary for the GSPCA. I was elected in 2000 and served until 2008. I'm a life member of the GSPCA and the GSP Club of Wisconsin and belong to the Desert GSP Club and the Northern Arizona GSP Club. I feel that my talents would still be valuable to the GSPCA and have decided to run for Recording Secretary. I think that I have the organizational skills and the customer service skills needed for the position. I have the knowledge of the position gained during my eight years of service to the Club as Secretary. I am asking the support of the membership in once again electing me as an officer of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America and allowing me to serve the Club that I’ve been part of for many years.
