GSPCA GSPCA Store Gene Moseley Jr.

Candidate for South Central Director | Back

I’ve been very active in AKC/American Field Pointing Dog Field Trials since 1978.  I was a member of the Texas Coastal Brittany Club and ran Brittanies for few years before getting into German Shorthaired Pointers.  I have been a member in the Gulf Coast German Shorthaired Club since the late ‘70s and have served as Board Member, Vice President (Field Trial Chairman), Desnaking Chairman, On Point Editor, and now President (2005-2008).  In 2001, the Gulf Coast German Shorthaired Pointer Club awarded me a Honorary Life Member of the club in recognition of outstanding contributions to the club.  My wife (Sherrie) and I are also members of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America.  Sherrie has worked beside me for the past 12 years breaking and running all of our own dogs.  We are breeders, trainers, campaigners, teachers, and students.

I enjoy running dogs as well as scouting dogs in field trials, but the most fun is training/breaking my own dogs and campaigning them.   We have finished Six Field Champions and Six Amateur Field Champions.  Four Field Champions and Four Amateur Field Champions are from our own breeding program. (FC/AFC Texas Amazing Grace), (FC/AFC Texas Dirty White Boy), (FC/AFC Texas Practical Magic), & (FC/AFC Texas Flying Wizard).   In 2001 we had the Field Trial Producing Dam of the Year (FC/AFC Laski’s Dandi Dixie Darling) in the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America.  To date Dixie has produced Twelve (12) FC/AFC Tiltles with her two breedings.

I have been judging since the early ‘80s and attended the first Judging Seminar that AKC held.  Since then, I have attended both Hunting Test and Field Trial Seminars and have judged numerous AKC Field Trials, AKC Hunt Tests, American Field Bird Hunter Trials, including AKC Eastern Classic Championship (2001), German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America Open Gun Dog National Championship (2004, 2007), Weimaraner Club of America National Amateur Championship & National Derby Classic (2004), American Pointer National Championship (2007), Great Plains NGSPA Championship (2005), and Canadian Kennel Club Pheasant Championship in Calgary, Canada (2006) NGSPA Quail Championship (2007).

I enjoy watching bird dogs from all pointing breeds and have a reputation of placing the best bird dog of the day no matter what color or breed.
