Mother of two sons, one in the USMC who is deployed to Iraq and the other son is a Junior in college and working full-time. Twenty-six years experience in critical care and is currently Nurse Manager for Ambulatory Care Services at an area hospital, which includes the Emergency Department, Primary Care Clinics, Specialty Clinics, Phone Advice Line, Travel and Escort. Currently completing Masters of Science-Nursing with 3.92 GPA (planned graduation in March of 2008) and has been invited to join Phi Sigma Theta and Sigma Theta Tau. Moved to Florida in 1999 and has been active with German Shorthaired Pointers since the move. Currently owns three GSPs. Ben was the first GSP and what an ambassador to the breed he was! He competed for his Junior Hunter title at age 9 months with four straight qualifying scores while mom was on crutches and recovering from knee surgery after being struck head-on in a motor vehicle accident. The wonderful experiences associated for the Junior Hunter with Ben was a huge influence in gaining a strong commitment into the sport of hunting/field work with GSPs. Ben was able to achieve his Rally Advanced, Championship and service dog titles prior to passing at age 3.5 to cancer. Current goal is to achieve a bred-by Dual CH with MH. The current crew of GSPs are all working toward performance/conformation titles and there is high hopes on little Ms. Phi for achieving the FC/CH/MH goal. Issac is well on his way to completing his CH and is training toward Obedience and Rally and does some bird training when he can. Trixie has her Int. CH and is almost ready for MH. She is also training toward Obedience and Rally. The plan is to try to have her ready for the Nationals for these venues this May. Breeding for GSPs of excellent temperament, health, conformation and performance abilities in a variety of venues, especially the bird work is important. The breeding of the first litter of GSPs achieved eight CH and six JH. Many of the pups have gone on to Special, with one currently ranked in the top three as of the date of writing this bio. Others are working toward higher levels of Hunting titles or other performance events. The litter’s dam was awarded Show Dam of the Year for 2005. Canine background also includes successfully breeding and competing with Border Collies. Two obtained their AKC CH just after acceptance into AKC and were successful Specials with numerous group placements. One weekend would be in the breed ring and the next would be performing herding. Three Kelly achieved a perfect score in herding (which had never been accomplished prior to that day in 1994) and all three had many HIT at the national and local levels. At the first Border Collie Nationals, was the “stock manager” for the herding portion of the event. Duties included arranging and caring for the sheep that were used at the Nationals. Currently, President for the North Florida GSP Club and was their Secretary for two years prior to becoming President. Other similar positions for organizations include: Secretary for Second Amendment Coalition of Missouri for five years and lobbyist for Missouri Legislative Issues Council (representing national and grass roots organizations with over 1.7 million members combined for State and National level needs). Strong organizational skills, history of successfully completing tasks and dedication to keeping and improving the rich variety of venues in which the GSP can compete are all attributes that are presented for consideration.
