National Field Futurity

What is the Field Futurity?
A non-regular competition whereby the breeder nominates a litter within 60 Days of whelping, and enters the get from that litter to compete with the other futurity nominated litters at the National Field Trial.  The idea is these dogs will represent that breeders best efforts in researching and planning their highest quality litter for that year, based upon their knowledge, understanding and confidence of the genetic potential of the proposed breeding.

The purpose of the futurity class, also known as the Breeders stake, is to promote the Shorthair progress by thoughtful breeding.

The Futurity field event is run each fall in conjunction with the GSPCA National Field Trials. Owners and co-owners (if applicable) must be members of the GSPCA. The National Field Trial committee manages the Futurity field event under AKC regulations.
The Futurity field event is a thirty minute stake judged for consistency and future potential as either an All Age or Gun Dog. Dogs must find and point birds on course. A blank cartridge is fired but steadiness to wing and shot is not required. The Futurity field event is not a retrieving stake.

Futurity Prize Money
A Futurity purse is created from the nomination and re-nomination fees and any penalties paid plus $10.00 from each Futurity entry. The purse is divided 40/30/20/10 to the four placements with 60% to the owner and 40% to the breeder.
